Patients are seen by appointment only. Patients with urgent problems will be seen the same day.

For same day appointments

please ring as soon as possible after 8.15 am.

For non-urgent appointments

please telephone between 10.00 am and 5.50 pm and book well in advance.

To cancel an appointment

If you need to cancel an appointment please let us know as it can then be allocated to someone else.

Appointments are normally for 10 minutes. If you know in advance that you will need longer for your problem, please book a double appointment.

Telephone Advice (01223 364127)

Sometimes advice from your doctor or a nurse over the telephone may be all that you require.

The receptionist will advise you of the best time to contact your doctor or nurse.

Appointments at Girton Surgery

Telephone Cambridge 277449.  Patients are seen by appointment only.  If your medical problem is urgent, you can be fitted in on the same day, although you are strongly encouraged to see your own doctor whenever possible.

When the surgery is closed

Please telephone the main surgery on Cambridge 364127.

Pharmacist

Our experienced pharmacist is available during surgery hours to dispense prescriptions and offer advice regarding medication.

Monday - Friday 08:45 - 13:00
Monday afternoon from 15:45 - 17:15pm

Practice Nurse

A Practice Nurse is available between 8.30 and 12 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Monday and Wednesday mornings are for phlebotomy appointments only. Facilities at Girton are limited and if you need vaccinations for overseas or family planning advice, please make an appointment to be seen at the main surgery

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone 01223 364127 before 10:30 if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may 'phone you back as it could be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

Hospital Transport

If your medical condition is such that you require transport to the hospital for appointments, please contact the surgery giving at least two weeks notice. We cannot guarantee this service as it is controlled by hospital funds and it would help if you can organise your own transport where possible.
